I’ve been self employed for almost two years now. I LOVE what I do. I wake up excited everyday and that’s not something I had when I worked for someone else. My days literally consist of waking up, brushing my teeth and washing my face, turning on my computer, opening the patio door for Kobe (our cat), making breakfast and sitting on our new patio furniture while I eat breakfast and check emails. I’ll have emails from galleries interested in my merchandise or an email telling me to ship a particular painting to someone who purchased it online. I’m usually done by 11am.
This morning I considered going back into the workforce again while keeping my business. Anyone who know me knows that I am about my money. I see it as extra money I can contribute to my retirement accounts. This decision would pay off years from now. One can never have too much money right?
I guess I’m just bored. I always dreamt of having this lifestyle. Working and earning money on my own terms. Traveling the world at the drop of a hat. Living bi-costally like I always wanted to. I feel like I’m in early retirement and I’m only 27. I’ll look at all my old business clothes and miss getting dressed up in the morning. The only time I use my car is when I drive 2 miles to the gym or the grocery store. The fiance does all the driving. He thinks I have road rage. I do lol. I’m just getting bored though. This is not a pity blog. I know most of you out there are like “this biyatch has lost her marbles”.
I have all this time on my hands and I know I need to do something positive with it. So this is what I think I’ll do:
*Volunteer -where I dunno
*Take an online class-I really want to get my certificate in Human Resource Management. Though I’ll probably never use it.
*Start belly dancing again
What would you do if you had plenty of time on your hands?
Till next time…

Your lifestyle sounds awesome! What would I do…
- draw. paint, write, learn new mediums
- get my masters (I don’t need it, just want it)
- teach
- learn guitar
- Definitely volunteer (I would probably do something with young girls, like Girl’s Inc.)
- Travel
- start other businesses in all my interest areas
- read
- join a soccer team
I could go all day
Ahhh, I wish I had lots of time on my hands. If I did I would:
-make a regular volunteer committment (I’m thinking Big Sisters)
-work out way more (pick a goal to train for like a mini-triathlon or something)
-take language classes (re-learn French, learn Spanish, etc.)
-take up yoga and meditation.
More yoga….
More hot baths….
Work out on a regular basis…
Take up volunteering…
But DEFINATELY if I had a lot of time on my hands I would be on a beach in Negril somewhere with someone serving up ackee and salt fish with lemonade … I’d be sooo good to GO!
I envy you; although I do the same thing as you in mornings I’m not getting paid for it! I would love to work for myself one day… bravo!
Ack! I commented, but it never appeared…. here I go again:
- Volunteer is good (I would do something with young girls, like Girl’s Inc or Girl Scouts, I dunno)
- Join a team, like soccer… good excuse to get in even better shape!
- Paint, draw, learn new mediums
- Take some misc classes on things I am interested in
- Go back to school for my masters (I don’t need it, just want it)
- Learn the guitar… maybe join band?
- write, write, write
- Start other side businesses…
I know there’s WAY more
belly dancing is always a good thing.
geez, there’s so much i would – tha main ones being:
- volunteer and/or start my own non-profit
- travel
- take Krav Maga (which I’ve wanted to take forever)
- start a garden or something…its something that never sounds good when i think about it but always feels good once i’m doing it
- start a book club with the goal of getting onto one of Oprah’s book club episodes lol
- learn to play the piano or violin or drums

I know exactly what I mean. I have been self employed for the past three years. The only time I really go out during the week it to get need supplies for my business. Lately, I know that I have been slacking a little. But I wouldn’t trade my current life for anything else.
