Yesterday I had an appointment at a women’s clinic for my yearly pap smear. They seemed to be behind schedule which had me sitting in the waiting room for about 30 minutes. While sitting there this lady comes through the front door with her daughter. The woman looked like she was in her early 20’s and her daughter was no older that two. She checked in with the front desk and found a seat facing me. Her daughter kept complaining that it was cold and she wanted to leave. The mother ignored her. Suddenly, the little girl kicks off her shoes, jumps to the floor and screams “I said I wanna goooooo!” while pulling her mother’s purse off the chair. Her mother jumped up, grabbed the shit out of her arm and says ” Lil’ girl I’m gonna spank you in front of all these people. Now stop it!” That little tyke would not back down. She stared into her mother’s eyes something fierce and did a serious neck roll like “I know she ain’t talking to me”. So, sure enough her mother pulls her by the arm out the front door and out of sight. The next thing I heard was spank spank spank. Then loud crying. Two minutes later the little girl comes in sucking her thumb with a look of defeat on her face. Her mother tells her to sit down and she runs to find a seat.
I couldn’t help but to laugh inside. Not only because the mother had to show her daughter who was in charge but, because we were sitting inside of Planned Parenthood. The look on the mother’s face and her actions sure didn’t suggest that her daughter was planned. I don’t have any children so I don’t know if what she did would be considered child abuse or just “too dang tired to deal with a two year olds shit today” lol.

I was definitely planned and I got hit less than my brother.
I think I remember one real incident of being spanked.. oh no! TWO. hahaha

I was definitely planned. I don’t think my Mom’s ever done anything without a plan.
And yes I was spanked, but rarely (only when I was being an utter shit) and generally by my Dad.
I’m also not a parent, so I really shouldn’t judge, but that maybe seems bordering on abuse rather than dicipline. Shouldn’t she not have ignored her child initially? Shouldn’t she have brought a toy or a book or something for the kid to do instead of sit there bored? After being a nanny for many years, I do know that we all definitely have our days. But you try to minimize them by pre-planning.
No, I wasn’t planned. My parents were fresh out of high school. I was only spanked a couple of times, though. I was a quick learner. Nowadays, you can’t stare at your kid wrong or you’ll get arrested.
I was planned (I am the oldest) & I most definitely got spanked often. Much more than my younger sister, who was bad but not as mischievous myself. The stories I could tell. A few of them involve vaseline, starch spray, oatmeal, glass tables, & milk crates. I was baddd. But luckily, I have a very patient mother, who loves me completely. =]

Seriosly? Can you get away with spanking anymore? I was planned as the second of three… I was also spanked quite a bit, lol. Never too horrible and mostly by dad. Mom wasn’t strong enough and it made us giggle. As we got older and turned “rotton” in my dad’s eyes, we got a little more physical abuse I would call it. He would shove us against walls while gripping our arms way too tight. At some point, my mom must have threatened him (post divorce) because he started just threatening us with, “I would smack the shit out of you but I’d get in trouble.” Yikes. Thanks mom!
I was about as far from planned as one can get; I’ll save you the painful exposition of that one. I did get hit, well spanked, then hit for real later in life by others. Now that I have my own kids, I thought it was the appropriate thing to do. The first time I really ever did it was with my son, and I swear I died a little inside. That was almost two years ago, and the last and only time it has ever happened. I don’t have all the answers to parenting questions, but I know there has to be a better way.
i was deffenitly spanked by my dadand welll one time he spanked me with his belt in a store,. he sat me across the walmart carts took off his belt and said”are you ready to get spanked now?” of course i said “No……SIr” and he went bambam bam! and people were crwded around me laughing and i wasw screaming noooo owowow nooo im imi im im so sosoooooooooo soryy and i was not that young either i was 16 because of where i live in india i was grounded to one time for not doing homework so i was grounded for 5 months and spanked every day!
