How awful. I am sorry that this happened to you. My hubby was the victim of ID theft. Someone purchased a car in his name and defaulted on the loan. This was years ago. It is really an invasion of privacy.

That little shit….Nothing like that has ever happened to me, then again I know there are times in the past that I didn’t pay as close of attention as I should have.

We had our bills taken from our mailbox on time. I put them out Sunday night, and by Wednesday they arleady had a fake ID with my name on it and trying to open a ton of new accounts.

Even worse my Asst at my old job a a box of check taken from hs mailbox and since they knew what they were doing they had split them up and used them all at once.

Took years to fix!

I will only use a locking mialbox now, and I pickup my check AT the bank!

Oh hell no. yeah what a little shit! I sporadically check my bank statement online as well, but it’s not like I have THAT much to really be worried about.

This happened to me with Wells Fargo. It was clearly my fault, though. I had an email come to me from Wells Fargo, stating that they needed the update their records & they asked for my pin number, my card number, my name & my social. It looked very legit, so I gave them my information. Several months later, I noticed that over 1,900 dollars was being tranferred into an unknown account! I didn’t HAVE that much money in my account; $300, maybe…

Long story short: it was a phishing scam & my identity was stolen because of it. Whoever this person was, he/she was trying to purchase plane tickets to Nigeria…? It was such a mess & it took a few months to clean up.

From there, I switched to Wamu. ;/

oh my gosh! this has not happened to me and now i’m going to be extra cautious when cheking over my account! i can’t believe your own banker did this! i hope he truly gets what’s coming to him.

This is absolutely appalling. I’m going to check through my old statements very carefully now.

I hope the guy questioned is prosecuted.

Identity theft is a huge worry. I’ve had a bill for mobile phones etc that I didn’t order. It makes me wonder how much goes on that we don’t know about.

I have not had my identity stole (yet) but I am OCD about checking my accounts. I have one of the better banks out there (USAA) but it is still appalling the stunts they pull!

It’s ridiculous that you can’t even trust the institutions that were founded to keep us “safe” lol. I check my accounts online too and last year after a Vegas trip saw that someone was having a good ole time with my account. So I automatically assume that I must have lost my debit card, but it was still in my wallet. Needless to say it took forever and a day to get the situation straightened out. What I didn’t get is how does a person go into a gas station and get $200 worth of stuff by providing the cashier with an account number?!?! Guess I’ll never know lol
